About The Position

The Vascular Sonographer performs ultrasound examinations for diagnostic evaluation and identification of patients with peripheral vascular and/or arterial disease. The Vascular Sonographer works closely with all disciplines and providers to support treatment plans, as appropriate, for potential vascular patients to promote wound healing.

Requirements

  • Associates of Science or higher degree.
  • Completion of an ultrasound program recognized by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Current Certification as one of the below:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or
  • Sonography by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Registry.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from approved agency.
  • 2+ years of experience as a ultrasound technologist in a hospital or diagnostic imaging clinic setting preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to treat others with compassion and patience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • All employees are required to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Outpatient wound care experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly SharePoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient’s personal information and medical history.
  • Preparing treatment areas, including but not limited to positioning patient, prepping ultrasound room, prepping sterile field for procedures.
  • Performs most modalities of peripheral vascular studies (i.e. duplex imaging, venous mapping, dopplers), as permitted.
  • Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are completed, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.
  • Participate in the daily workflow by communicating with multiple disciplines to ensure identification of vascular program candidates, timely patient care and adequate support for the program.
  • Schedules exams and treatments.
  • Operates all vascular equipment and software packages, including but not limited to ultrasound and venous ablation equipment, EMR, PACS.
  • Performing administrative tasks as it pertains to the vascular program, such as managing patient schedules, filing reports, review and prepare patient files for approval and insurance authorization, as well as documenting exams and procedures to maintain patient records.
  • Assists physician in ultrasound guided RF venous ablation.,
  • Manages all vascular supplies, notifies appropriate personnel when supplies need ordering.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles as necessary.
  • Complies with all Infection Prevention best practices (i.e. hand hygiene, PPE, etc.)
  • Responsible for thorough and accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system in timely manner according to organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Consistently adheres to company, hospital, and accrediting body clinical, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Ensures compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) by safeguarding patient information and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality standards.
  • May be responsible for participating in the onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
