About The Position

This is a Full Time position at 36 hours per week located at the Glenview clinic, but will require onsite training at Lake Forest Hospital for a minimum of 30 days. Schedule is as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 6:30am-5:00pm. The Vascular Sonographer reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Vascular Sonographer demonstrates independent judgment in performing two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of peripheral vascular systems for the diagnosis of disease.

Requirements

  • Ultrasound Technician Certificate from accredited school.
  • Certified Registered Vascular Tech.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of AMA approved training program in ultrasonography preferred.
  • Registered Vascular Tech preferred.

  • Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
  • Demonstrates use of independent judgment as necessary.
  • Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the prescribed area of interest, the depth of field and other specifications of test.
  • Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
  • Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of the body and to monitor quality of images produced.
  • Produces images of internal structures and records diagnostic data.
  • Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
  • Determines physicians orders and performs procedures accordingly.
  • Explains the test to the patient.
  • Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
  • Gives the patient post exam instructions.
  • Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
  • Appropriately utilizes the functionality of the Epic system within their job responsibilities.
  • Stays informed of Epic system updates and implements into daily work.
