Requirements

  • Associate degree from a formal Vascular Sonography Program accredited by CAAHEP.
  • BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Must meet one of the following credential criteria: ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or CCI Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS).
  • Reasonable experience with non-invasive diagnostic procedures is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular diagnostic procedures independently utilizing ultrasound and other ancillary devices.
  • Record and adapt vascular exams to obtain anatomical and pathological diagnostic information and images as appropriate for individual disease processes.
  • Use independent judgement to acquire the optimum diagnostic information for each examination performed.
  • Perform various vascular exams including carotid, peripheral, venous, and others following established protocols.
  • Evaluate and communicate diagnostic information to referring medical providers.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patient while in care.
  • Establish and maintain ethical working relationships and effective communication with all referring services and staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of and observe universal precautions and patient confidentiality.
  • Adapt to changing environments, such as changing schedules and emergency situations.
  • Effectively operate and help maintain equipment and perform other work duties as assigned.
  • Maintain proper data for billing (ICD codes/CPT) and complete preliminary reports.
  • Participate in quality assessment (QA) of exams and assist with clinical research studies as needed.
