About The Position

Performs carotid, peripheral arterial and venous duplex, AAA/EVAR, LE arterial bypass, vein mapping, UE arterial and mesenteric duplex exams as requested by referring physicians. Completes other vascular services or office functions requested by the manager of the vascular lab. Shadows senior techs to learn advanced procedures such as standing venous exams, pseudoaneurysm injections, intraoperative scanning, and renal artery exams. Rotates to both in-patient and out-patient settings and covers call shifts as the schedule dictates.

Requirements

  • Associate degree.
  • Graduate of a formal/Director approved radiology or sonography program.
  • One (1) year vascular sonography experience performing non-invasive vascular lab studies.
  • In lieu of the minimum requirements, five (5) years of dedicated vascular lab experience may be considered.
  • Certification eligible for ARDMS- RVT or CCI(RVS).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics.
  • Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic and intermediate vascular lab studies.
  • Performs vascular lab procedures using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Ensures exams follow IAC approved scanning protocol and utilizes Smart Protocols when possible.
  • Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.
  • Participates in the daily workflow by monitoring the technologist worklist to ensure timely patient care.
  • Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable.
  • Participates in the Vascular Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.
  • Operates all vascular lab testing equipment and software packages including ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS.
  • Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service.
  • Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen.
  • Performs monthly deep cleaning of equipment and maintains appropriate logs.
  • Attends staff and departmental meetings as well as educational conferences.
  • Participates in discussions and keeps abreast of changes in the field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
