The VAS Picker/Packer located in Rensselaer, IN, is responsible for safely operating powered industrial equipment to move, stage, and load outbound shipments according to production and quality standards. This role supports efficient material flow, ensures load accuracy, and maintains compliance with all safety and quality procedures. The Loader may perform a variety of shipping-related tasks while contributing to Donaldson’s operational goals and standards of excellence. Hours of Work: • 1st Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (overtime: 3:30 AM – 2:00 PM) • 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM (overtime: 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet legal minimum age requirement and be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and internet use.
  • Ability to stand for 8–12 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and repetitively.
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment (forklift, reach truck, walkie).
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work constructively with all plant employees.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Value-Added Services (VAS) for customers, including AIAG and quick receive labels.
  • Load and unload trailers according to production standards and safety procedures.
  • Create and apply pack slips to wrapped pallets.
  • Scan cartons and process load sheets using RF or voice-pick units.
  • Drive forklifts, reach trucks, or walkies to move products to designated trailers.
  • Return load slips to the shipping supervisor for documentation and verification.
  • Perform loading, moving, and staging of inventory.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Conduct trailer quality audits and monitor product flow to ensure timely movement.
  • Coordinate activities with other workers to maintain a consistent shipping pace.
  • Operate equipment to transfer materials from transportation vehicles safely.
  • Record operational data (product types, quantities, etc.) manually or electronically.
  • Report quality variances or discrepancies immediately.
  • Follow all work procedures, safety instructions, and company policies.
  • Comply with DOT, HAZMAT, and environmental regulations.
  • Use all designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Donaldson’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
