About The Position

Duxbury High School is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach for the 2026 season. The season begins on or about March 20, 2026 and concludes following the final playoff game. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the sport, and the ability to develop high-level athletes while fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. This position requires a professional who can effectively organize practices, mentor coaching staff, and build relationships across all levels of the program. Duxbury High School provides a dynamic education that prepares students to meet, both individually and collaboratively, the challenges and opportunities of a global society. Requirements

  • Prior coaching experience at the high school varsity level or higher preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop athletes in a competitive team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive and respectful team culture that aligns with the values of Duxbury High School Athletics.
  • Must complete all required MIAA coursework and certifications, including current CPR/AED certification prior to the season start.
  • Strong commitment to continuous professional development and program improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Athlete Development: Instruct and develop high-level athletes through advanced skill training and game strategy. Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and character both on and off the field.
  • Practice & Game Preparation: Plan and implement organized, efficient practices featuring sport-specific drills and conditioning. Oversee game-day preparation, strategy, and in-game adjustments.
  • Program Oversight & Communication: Serve as the lead representative of the varsity program while building strong connections with JV and freshman teams. Maintain consistent and open communication with student-athletes, families, coaching staff, and school administration. Conduct pre-season meetings, regular updates, and end-of-season communication with players and parents.
  • Administrative Duties: Attend all Duxbury Athletic Department meetings, Patriot League meetings, and MIAA meetings as required. Ensure the program’s compliance with all school, league, and MIAA regulations. Complete all required MIAA coaching courses and maintain current CPR/AED certification. Submit and review end-of-season evaluations for all coaching staff. Conduct formal exit interviews with all varsity players.
