About The Position

Regina High School Mission Statement: Regina High School is a Catholic college preparatory school in the Franciscan tradition of peace, service, and respect for the unique dignity of each person. Our Mission is embodied in our school motto: “Transforming girls into young women of faith and vision.” Position Description: Head Varsity Swim & Dive Coach Regina’s Swim & Dive Program is a co-op with Lutheran High North students. With Regina being the lead school, the coach reports directly to the Regina Athletic Director (while keeping the LHN AD updated) and has the responsibility for all athletes in the Regina-LHN Swim & Dive Program. The coach will be required to follow the procedures of the high school’s athletic program, as well as those of the Catholic High School League and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

Requirements

  • Must have strong understanding of technical aspect of swim & dive
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must complete Protecting God’s Children through the Archdiocese of Detroit, if not having completed already
  • Must submit to new background check
  • Must have valid CPR certificate or obtain one
  • Must develop an Emergency Action Plan in collaboration with the Regina Administration
  • Follow all MHSAA & CHSL coaching requirements, such as CAP courses offered by the MHSAA

Nice To Haves

  • High level coaching experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Has the full responsibility for the overall supervision and development of the swim & dive program, including any sub-varsity teams
  • In charge of assignments and duties of any assistant coaches
  • Planning and implementing team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, summer camps and off-season workouts
  • Teaches student-athletes safe and fundamental techniques of the sport throughout the season
  • Maintains sufficient communication with athletes, parents, asst. coaches, and Regina & LHN Administration
  • Works in collaboration and cooperation with the Athletic Directors recommending the purchase of uniforms, equipment, scheduling and supplies
  • Helps oversee maintenance, safety and cleanliness of uniforms, equipment, supplies and the facility
  • Promotes individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship throughout the program
  • Performs other related duties as required
