About The Position

The Varsity Club Coordinator at West Virginia University will oversee the planning and implementation of activities for the WVU Varsity Club. This role involves coordinating membership drives, meetings, special events, and maintaining communication with alumni groups and athletic staff. The coordinator will act as a liaison to the WVU Alumni Association and the Mountaineer Athletic Club, ensuring effective community relations and support for student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sports administration, athletic coaching, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics and conference guidelines.

  • Ability to maintain and develop personal contacts with outside groups.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, plan and implement community relations programs involving former student-athletes.
  • Manage requests from fans and the community, and plan community relations programs that provide exposure for the athletics program.
  • Report directly to the Deputy Athletics Director for External Affairs and collaborate with others in the athletic program.
  • Maintain compliance with all rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines of West Virginia University, the Big East Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Encourage student-athletes to succeed academically and graduate, treating their academic requirements as a priority.
  • Exhibit ethical behavior and represent the University with dignity and integrity.
  • Build and maintain relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff members, and constituencies.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Handle time-sensitive issues, tight deadlines, and extended hours, including weekend work and travel.
