About The Position

HPC-Industrial, Powered by Clean Harbors, is looking for a Vapor Control/CSE Supervisor for our La Porte, TX location, to join their safety conscious team! The Vapor Control/CSE Supervisor is responsible for supervising and completion of multiple jobs requiring crews while safely operating necessary equipment on jobs requiring Vapor Control technology for maintenance and turnarounds at client's site in accordance with client and business requirements and HPC company policies, practices and procedures.

Requirements

  • Detailed Oriented.
  • Able to QA/QC documentation daily and provide feedback/correction to the field operators.
  • Generate high-level auditable emission reports quickly and accurately.
  • Generate required compliance documentation prior to project startup.
  • Excel Experience: Able to generate pivot tables and complete data set formatting.
  • Macro building experience preferred.
  • VLOOKUP a plus.
  • General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Fundamentals Required.
  • Understanding of basic chemical refining processes.
  • Unit conversion and basic chemical reaction stoichiometry a must.
  • Understanding of Acid/Base reactions at a macro level.
  • Understanding of functional group properties of organic compounds.
  • Maintain records in a logical and intuitively organizational manner.
  • Communicate complex ideas and processes in laymen terms with field groups.
  • Be flexible and available to accommodate fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • BS/BA in Environmental Science or Engineering (preferred).
  • 2+ Year Environmental compliance experience (required).
  • Knowledge of the local Commission on Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws/regulations (required).

Responsibilities

  • Instructs, provides feedback and directs and assists crew in performance of job duties to complete work in accordance with client requirements and HPC company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Enforces HPC employee policies and may remove employee from job when required.
  • Writes performance reviews and submits to management for review and action.
  • Oversee Tank Cleaning Crews of 1-10.
  • Schedules job and crews.
  • Dispatches crews based on calls received on nights and weekends.
  • Ability to travel overnight.
  • Ability to be on-call for emergency response situations.
  • By position, ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week.
  • By position, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces for periods of time.
  • Reads work order and ensures all required equipment is available and operational prior to starting job.
  • Inspects equipment and general work area prior to starting any job.
  • Corrects deficiencies that may cause accidents, injuries, lost productivity or harm to equipment or that are inconsistent with client's requirements.
  • Informs client as required regarding job status and client requirements.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment when required.
  • Manually cleans, installs, fits, repairs valves, caps, hoses, pumps, gaskets and all other external and internal equipment on projects.
  • Understanding of equipment maintenance and ability to perform maintenance utilizing supplied breathing air and applicable personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness in the cleaning areas.
  • Check equipment at the start of each shift.
  • Lead safety meeting and ensure CS safety policies are followed.
  • Supervise all on-site activities related to vapor control operations, including setup, system operation, and breakdown.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and company policies.
  • Coordinate daily tasks, crew schedules, and logistics to ensure timely project completion.
  • Monitor and maintain vapor control systems (e.g., carbon scrubbers, liquid scrubbers, thermal oxidizers, and vapor combustors).
  • Troubleshoot field issues quickly and effectively to prevent downtime.
  • Document daily site conditions, equipment logs, and work performed.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to report progress and address concerns.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure environmental and operational standards are met.
  • Train and mentor field personnel on best practices and job-specific protocols.
  • Maintain inventory of materials, equipment, and consumables needed for the project.
