Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Engine Center in Bridgeport, WV as a Vane Ring Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of vane ring components used in aircraft turbine engines. This role ensures that all components meet strict aviation safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will work with precision tools and specialized equipment to maintain the performance and reliability of engine systems. You will work on our 4th shift, which is Friday to Sunday from 5am-5pm. Training will take place on 1st shift for up to 6 months before transitioning into 4th shift. Pratt & Whitney in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a trade, mechanical, or manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Active Powerplant license
  • Prior experience working in an MRO/OEM environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Proficient using a variety of different hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vane ring components and related engine parts for conformance to current specifications, engineering standards, and proper identification markings
  • Identify and document deviations from specified tolerances, materials, and dimensional requirements
  • Perform detailed inspection, testing, and repair of a variety of turbine engine components, ensuring compliance with OEM and regulatory standards
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, documenting part condition, classification of vanes, and required rework to meet engine-specific requirements
  • Determine appropriate vane classification and perform rework operations to achieve required performance standards for specific engine models
  • Report abnormal conditions, recurring defects, or failure trends to engineering for root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Plan and execute repair and rework processes, selecting the most effective tooling, fixtures, and methods for each job
  • Operate computer systems and printers to input, retrieve, and manage technical data, work instructions, and inspection documentation
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Collaborate with engineering teams in the development, testing, and implementation of new repair methods and process improvements
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Read, understand, and adhere to RTX’s Code of Ethics, including the responsibility to report any actual or suspected violations
  • Coordinate with engineering and external partners to:
  • Maintain correlations with Plant 1 across all engine models
  • Ensure alignment on calibration standards, repair procedures, and technical updates
  • Communicate issues, discrepancies, and process improvements with internal teams and third-party partners (e.g., Fleming & Associates)
  • Perform advanced repair techniques including:
  • Silicone injection repairs
  • Epoxy-based restoration processes
  • Maintain and operate within a clean, climate-controlled environment for sensitive repair processes, ensuring:
  • Proper handling and storage of materials
  • Monitoring of shelf life and expiration dates of compounds
  • Accurate documentation of material mixes and usage
