About The Position

Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services is currently seeking seasonal workers for the positions of Park/Building Attendant. These openings will include part-time day, evening, and weekend hours. The person in this position will perform a variety of duties in facilities services and event support for city sponsored, partnered, and permitted events programmed in parks and facilities throughout the City. The primary role includes serving as a building attendant at the Vancouver arts hub during its initial activation period, which provides space for community meetings, classes, workshops, and rehearsals that support arts and culture in Vancouver. The role also serves as a Park Attendant for permitted and partnership events taking place at Esther Short Park and may include work with City sponsored events throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Current CPR/First Aid card within 30 days of employment.
  • Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Successful completion of a background check for applicants 18 and older.
  • Successfully pass employment references.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Comply with policies and procedures of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services.
  • Participate in rigorous physical activities that may require heavy lifting and/or long periods of standing/walking.
  • Work in indoor and outdoor settings that may require exposure to weather elements.
  • Successfully complete trainings/certification as required by position.

  • Understand and implement City of Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department operating principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Embrace and support the diverse backgrounds and abilities of all performers, city staff, and community members.
  • Provide minor first aid as necessary and fill out accident reports.
  • Perform other duties as required through assigned program.
