Duke University is seeking a Van Services Driver to support safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services in a demand‑response environment. In this role, you’ll work closely with dispatch to transport passengers efficiently while providing a positive and comfortable experience for every rider. You’ll be a key frontline representative of Duke, using sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety to support daily transportation operations. This role is well‑suited for someone who enjoys working independently, interacting with passengers, and maintaining high safety and service standards. Position Description (Essential Duties) Safely operate vans to transport passengers while adhering to traffic laws, service routes, and safety standards Follow dispatch instructions and use judgment to plan efficient pick‑up and drop‑off sequences Assist passengers as needed and answer service‑related questions politely and accurately Complete required manifests, inspections, accident reports, and other documentation Use two‑way radios and tablets to communicate incidents, emergencies, or service updates Attend required training and maintain knowledge of service routes, safety procedures, and regulations Prepare written reports related to accidents, incidents, or vehicle issues as needed At Duke, transportation services play an important role in supporting the campus community.
