About The Position

Animal House Jacksonville is recruiting a Van Driver to join our team! We offer top-of-market pet care in a safe and clean environment. You will be joining a team of pet lovers who take care of dogs and cats while the pet parents are out and about. Our driver is responsible for operating the Barking Bus, picking up and dropping off pets for a fun day at Animal House! Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, and responsible, with the safety of our canine passengers as their top priority. Key responsibilities include: Shuttle Operation: Safely transporting pets to and from Animal House aboard our shuttle. Must be able to operate a large van safely, while providing a comfortable ride for our guests and adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Basic Shuttle Maintenance: Cleaning the shuttle on a regular basis, as well as the common walkways leading into/out of the center. Ensure shuttle enclosures are clean and pleasant to be in, and inspect the vehicle routinely to ensure it that it is in good working order. Customer Service: Engage with pet parents daily, providing friendly customer interactions and the assurance that their pet will be transported safely and securely. Reading Dog Behavior: Understand or learn about canine body language and how to make the dogs comfortable in meeting you and having you lead them into our facility. Safety First: Safety and security are a priority while enjoying all we do. Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate with the team on site in order to ensure all members of the Animal House team are on the same page! Must Love Dogs: We have a lot of them! Please note that the above-listed duties and responsibilities are the basic requirements for this role and may be modified, expanded, or reduced based on the evolving needs of the company. Pay starts at $12/hr, with up to $14 depending on experience.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with pet parents.
Ability to safely lift at least 50 lbs.
Physical stamina: this is a physically demanding job that will require you to handle dogs on leashes, lift dogs, and move throughout our facility.
Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or challenging situations.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform routine inspections.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of local routes and landmarks is preferred.
Must love and be comfortable around dogs! You will be jumped on, slobbered on, and more—and will be required to treat each dog with kindness and compassion.
