A van driver for a K-12 school transports students safely and efficiently to and from school and other related events. This may include regular routes, field trips, extracurricular activities, and special education transportation. Van drivers are responsible for the well-being of the students in their care while in transit. The characteristics described above are representative of those that an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions as the SGA Van Driver. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Safe and defensive driving practices.
  • Maintain discipline and safety among passengers.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understands and follows oral and written directions.
  • Maintain routine records.
  • All other duties & responsibilities assigned by Transportation Coordinator.
  • Previous experience operating a school van or other large vehicles is desired.
  • Driving Record: A clean driving record is usually required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects (e.g., up to 50 lbs).
