About The Position

The Lutheran Home is seeking a Part-Time Van Driver with strong driving skills, a clean driving record, and a valid Class E driver’s license. Experience with shuttle or passenger transport – and especially wheelchair transport – is a plus. In this important service role, you will be responsible for safely and promptly transporting residents, families, and staff, supporting the daily rhythm of our healthcare community. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Class E Driver License
  • Strong driving skills with a clean driving record
  • CPR certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and safely position residents
  • Ability to perform frequent physical movements, including reaching, bending, and stooping

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport residents to and from designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Assist residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.
  • Engage in courteous and respectful conversation with residents and their families.
  • Keep track of fuel usage.
  • Conduct daily safety inspection of vehicle, including checking the interior, exterior, brakes, headlamps, and taillights; report any mechanical malfunctions or other issues as required.
  • Participate in the routine cleaning and servicing of the vehicle, including fueling; check oil and fluid levels; clean the windshield and headlamps; and maintain the vehicle in clean and safe operating condition.
