About The Position

Come join our awesome team as a Van Driver at Senior Community Care of Colorado-Montrose. Senior Community Care of Colorado PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization. The Van Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of Senior Community Care (SCC) participants and communicating any safety issue to the Transportation Manager. Senior Community Care of Colorado (SCCCO) is a PACE Program (Program of All-Inclusive Care of the Elderly) serving older adults in Montrose and Delta Counties. Our team offers wrap-around care services to meet the unique needs of each of our participants and support them to remain living independently in their homes and communities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Valid Driver’s License in state of Colorado.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.
  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Able to handle information in a confidential manner at all times.
  • Able to deal professionally and diplomatically with people

Nice To Haves

  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Have a minimum of one year experience in working with the frail and elderly population.
  • Able to read and understand maps and routing information.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.
  • Requires individual who can coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, caregivers, and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Senior Community Care passengers during transport, providing care in a manner which ensures participant satisfaction.
  • Follows assigned schedule, makes adjustments to meet unanticipated changes, while considering the needs of the participant and requirements of the PACE Center. Communicates these changes to dispatch.
  • Operates equipment safely and in compliance with vehicle licensing regulations.
  • Maintains and completes daily required records i.e., Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections, gasoline purchases.
  • Immediately reports to Transportation Manager, any vehicle or cell phone operating problems, malfunction, or incidents out of the ordinary routine.
  • Transports participants to and from medical/specialist appointments, and activity outings, as requested by the Interdisciplinary Team via the plan of care.
  • Transports meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other items as deemed necessary for participant.
