About The Position

As a substitute/on-call, operates and maintains a passenger van in transporting passengers along designated destinations according to assigned schedules; and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school.
• One (1) year general work experience.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license (Hawai‘i Type 3 or equivalent).
• Possession of a valid State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation Medical Examiner Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Transports passengers over specified routes.
• May assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicle.
• May secure passenger’s wheelchair to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchair during trip.
• May operate radio or similar devices to communicate with base station or other vehicles.
• Conducts daily inspection of vehicle.
• Services vehicle.
• Maintains service and passenger trip records.
• Reports defects of vehicle for appropriate attention and repair.
• Maintains vehicle in clean and sanitary condition.
• May make minor and emergency repairs to van as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
