About The Position

As a Van Delivery Driver, the role involves courteous, on-time, and accurate deliveries of products along a variable daily route. The driver is expected to operate the van professionally and safely, demonstrating attention to detail and safe work habits. This position also requires additional assistance with store operations before or after completing the delivery route. Gordon Food Service has a history of over 125 years, growing from a butter-and-egg delivery service into the largest family-operated foodservice business in North America, serving various customers across the U.S. and Canada through its distribution network and over 180 retail stores.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year previous delivery driving experience
  • Unrestricted Standard Operators License required
  • Must have a clean driving record (no drug or alcohol offenses in the last 5 years)
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle report (MVR)
  • Must be able to use a two-wheel cart with a load weighing up to 350 pounds
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • One year in customer service or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately locate and pick orders in-store for Wholesale customers
  • Build and maintain good customer relationships
  • Ensure accurate, timely deliveries of GFS products to customers
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicle and equipment
  • Operate the van in a professional and safe manner, demonstrating attention to detail and safe work habits
  • Ensure accurate and efficient processing of customer purchases through the point of sale
  • Ensure security of assets including cash, checks, and merchandise by following policies and procedures
  • Accurately receive and merchandise products, ensuring proper rotation and product quality, end cap and planogram execution, top stock, freezer, cooler and backroom organization
  • Provide additional assistance with store operations before or after completion of route
