About the position

Sandy Vans is seeking a skilled Van Builder specializing in Custom Cabinetry to design, build, and install custom cabinetry and interior woodwork for luxury adventure vans. This role involves collaborating with the design team and clients to ensure high standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics in each build. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and cabinetry, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and install custom cabinets, shelving, and storage solutions within vans according to client specifications.
  • Select appropriate materials and finishes that align with the desired aesthetic and functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with designers and customers to understand project goals and preferences.
  • Provide expert advice on cabinetry options, improvements, and feasibility.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, ensuring all cabinetry fits seamlessly within the van's interior.
  • Utilize precise measurements and techniques to maximize space and functionality.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
  • Operate CNC machines and utilize CAD software for designing and cutting components (preferred).
  • Accurately estimate time and materials needed for cabinetry projects.
  • Manage project timelines to ensure timely completion.
  • Keep the workshop organized and ensure tools are properly maintained.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques, and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in carpentry, cabinetry, or woodworking, preferably within custom vehicle building or similar environments.
  • Proficient in building and installing custom cabinetry and woodwork.
  • Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, materials, and finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience with CNC machines and CAD software is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt designs as needed.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
