About The Position

The position involves evaluating and repairing various types of valves and actuators, including control, safety, relief, gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly, and plug valves. Responsibilities include pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, in-process inspection, machining, lapping, surface preparation, painting, assembly, testing, and final inspection. The role also requires calibration and testing of valves and related instruments, as well as documenting repair, testing, and assembly activities. The technician will set up and take down required repair equipment on-site and in the shop, provide customer communication for technical assistance, troubleshoot issues, and determine the disposition of repairs. Work must adhere to guidelines under a National Board VR/UV program, and the technician must complete site-specific safety requirements while maintaining driver eligibility and a clean work environment. Participation in Safety and Quality programs is also expected.

Requirements

  • Preferred 1-3 years of industry-related experience (i.e., valve, pump, or actuator) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured on company insurance.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, and customer relations skills.

  • Mechanical ability/aptitude.
  • Problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to stay task-focused.

  • Must be able to operate repair equipment including overhead cranes, forklifts, sand blasters, seat facing machines, lift assist devices, and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and repair control, safety, relief, gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly, and plug valves.
  • Evaluate and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators.
  • Perform pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, in-process inspection, machining, lapping, surface preparation, painting, assembly, testing, and final inspection on various types of valves and actuators.
  • Calibrate and test valves, related instruments, and process instrumentation.
  • Document repair, testing, and assembly activities including cause of failure, actions taken, and parts used.
  • Set up and take down required repair equipment on-site and in the shop.
  • Provide customer communication for technical assistance, troubleshooting, and determining disposition of repairs.
  • Execute work in adherence to guidelines stated under a National Board VR/UV program.
  • Reference appropriate technical sources.
  • Complete site-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain driver eligibility and a clean work environment.
  • Participate in Safety and Quality programs.
