Cherry Bekaert’s Valuation Services practice provides financial advisory services to privately held and publicly traded companies. Core service offerings include business valuations, complex financial instruments, contingent consideration, debt and equity, stock-based compensation, intangible assets for financial and tax reporting, tax compliance, mergers and acquisitions in domestic and cross border transactions, and litigation. As a result of sustained growth, we are seeking a Senior Associate to augment our high performing team with hybrid flexibility throughout multiple offices in our footprint. Our professional staff applies traditional and cutting-edge valuation approaches and methods to a variety of corporate finance analyses. As a Senior Associate, you will work at the direction of an engagement Manager to execute a variety of initiatives, interfacing with clients to progress project activity while providing reviews to junior/offshore staff. Requirements

  • Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field
  • Completed/in progress valuation credential such as ASA, CFA or ABV
  • Minimum 2 years of related valuation experience within a public accounting and/or consulting firm
  • Technical skills: Excel, financial modeling, model validation and model building
  • Functional understanding of financial statements analysis with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations
  • A fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
  • Excellent verbal, written (including technical writing), and presentation skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills; ability to solve complex valuation issues

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assisting audit teams with reviews of valuation for financial reporting
  • Firsthand experience in running complex financial models
  • Proficiency in US GAAP and/or IFRS

Responsibilities

  • Primary activities will focus on the valuation of businesses, business interests, and intangible assets for ASC 350, ASC 360, ASC 718, and ASC 815; complex securities and embedded derivatives; estate and gift tax and charitable contributions; IRC 165, IRC 280, IRC 367, IRC 382, IRC 409A, and IRC 861
  • Perform purchase price allocations for financial reporting and/or tax purposes under US GAAP
  • Analyze historical financial and operating results of target companies to explain business trends and identify risks
  • Analyze and challenge assumptions related to future financial projections
  • Assist in the development of discount rates (WACC, IRR, WARA, etc.)
  • Conduct financial statement analysis (e.g., common size analysis, ratio analysis, trend analysis, and industry comparative analysis)
  • Perform market/industry research and develop industry growth estimates
  • Construct and review valuation and other financial models
  • Assist with the design and preparation of valuation reports and other client deliverables
  • Present analyses and conclusions to internal management and external client POCs, their boards of directors, and to fiduciaries
  • Work closely with Associate level personnel, directing engagement activity and providing review and mentorship as needed
