The Cook County Board of Review (CCBOR) is a quasi-judicial agency that reviews and hears property tax appeals. The Valuation Officer (VO) serves in a managerial capacity, making complex analytical decisions to ensure the fair and uniform assessment of appealed properties in Cook County, applying appropriate rules, regulations, policies, and other guidelines. This position must have the ability to discuss, explain, and support CCBOR’s determinations on various appeals and has discretionary authority to make valuation determinations and binding recommendations on behalf of the Commissioner represented. The VO represents the Commissioner in hearings and will collaborate with the First Assistant Commissioner and the commercial team in planning and developing methodologies for review scheduling in a uniform and timely manner to meet assessment deadlines.
