About The Position

The Shift Supervisor at Valmont is responsible for overseeing the production, material flow, and quality control within the Galvanizing department. This role involves managing daily shop operations, establishing work priorities, and ensuring that products meet quality standards. The Shift Supervisor will also enforce safety practices, maintain accurate records, and lead employee training programs to support the division's goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of leadership experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years relevant experience OR Associate's degree with 5+ years relevant experience OR 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Three years of supervisory or management experience in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage production, material flow, and quality control in the Galvanizing department.
  • Administer organizational policies and procedures at the department level.
  • Supervise daily shop operations and establish work priorities to meet shipping commitments.
  • Establish shift objectives to support division goals and review performance plans.
  • Ensure manufactured products meet or exceed quality standards and initiate necessary actions to maintain standards.
  • Maintain records for accuracy and timeliness of daily poundage, completed orders, and inspection reports.
  • Enforce good safety and housekeeping practices and employee training programs.
  • Implement work schedules to maximize manpower and materials utilization.
  • Assign work to hourly union employees and process parts/components to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor performance of assigned personnel and complete employee performance reviews.
  • Ensure product quality meets specified standards and personnel make required inspections.
  • Report and investigate all incidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings and monthly safety meetings with personnel.
  • Administer company policies in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions in assigned areas.
  • Train new and temporary employees on department activities and safety procedures.
  • Serve as a champion for various teams/projects to promote continuous improvement.
