About The Position

Summer 2026 Internship - May 26 - August 14 San Jose, CA Must be currently enrolled full time in a university degree program pursing a bachelor or master degree. Must not have graduated before September 2026 Join Renesas as a Summer Validation Engineer Intern! Work with cutting edge timing devices to validate functionality of digital logic and analog circuitry. Create Python automation tests for timing devices to catch corner cases, bugs, or stress test devices. Work with various pieces of lab equipment (Phase Noise Analyzers, Frequency Counters, Frequency Generators, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers ) to debug and analyze device functionality and performance. Work with design and software teams to debug devices and determine improvements for silicon and device drivers. Build on existing driver software to communicate with and manipulate internal digital logic. Analyzing and preparing detailed analysis summaries by processing generated data tables with tools like JMP and Excel. Preparing and reviewing documentation.

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or similar degree. Must not have graduated before September 2026
  • Python programming experience or programming concept knowledge a must.
  • Ability to problem solve and seek knowledge when presented with unknown concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • some knowledge of analog and DC circuit design and the ability to read schematics.
  • knowledge of lab equipment; power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • knowledge of serial communications; SPI, I2C, SMBus, etc.

Responsibilities
