About The Position

Electro Freeze/H.C. Duke LLC, a Welbilt Company, is a leader in the design and innovation of frozen treat equipment. Our product line includes solutions for soft serve, yogurt, shake, frozen beverages, hard pack/gelato batch freezers, and flavor systems. The company is currently located in East Moline, IL; but will be upgrading to a larger facility off I-80 in Davenport, IA by the end of calendar year 2026. Primary Responsibility: Serve as the subject matter expert for UL, CE, NSF, and other regulatory standards. Lead the agency approval process by conducting and overseeing tests, analyzing results, and ensuring adherence to global standards. Develop comprehensive test plans and performance criteria, ensuring alignment with product characteristics and customer expectations to drive product validation and user satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years’ experience with external agency approval processes or BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Proficiency in technical reading and writing, particularly regarding regulatory documentation.
  • Hands-on experience in validation testing and data-driven troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of systems evaluation and mechanical aptitude.
  • Problem solving mindset with high attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IEC60335, IEC60335-3-89, and UL standards.
  • Experience with electrical systems, including NEC codes, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems and relevant components.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar solid modeling software.
  • Experience with data acquisition tools, including thermocouples, pressure sensors, and energy monitoring systems.
  • Experience with the UL Data Acceptance Program.
  • Experience with NSF and food sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze validation test data to determine system compliance with both internal standards and safety agency standards.
  • Identify root causes of any malfunctions or non-compliance.
  • Willingness to become EPA certified to test refrigeration systems.
  • Perform compliance testing related to safety and sanitation.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review validation and compliance documentation, such as engineering change notices, wiring diagrams or alternative suppliers.
  • Continuously track and implement updates to UL, NSF, CE, and other applicable global standards, with a focus on their relevance to frozen treat equipment.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, production, and quality teams to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the production process, from design through to final inspection.
  • Oversee and maintain raw material certifications, nameplates, manuals, and electrical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Work with suppliers and purchasing to verify alternatives and identify cost-saving component opportunities.
  • laboratory equipment certificates, train personnel, and keep laboratory processes up to date to ensure compliance.
