About The Position

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Valet DEPARTMENT: Parking REPORTS TO: Luxury Valet Supervisor KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:  Provide guests with a hospitable first impression, while always practicing the “15-5” rule.  Escort and assist all guests with a smile.  Provide anticipatory service.  Demonstrate a sense of urgency when assisting guests while always maintaining a calm and composed look.  Open car and hotel doors for all guests entering or leaving the hotel.  Provide all guests with a proper introduction to the hotel upon arrival.  Thoroughly explain the Volvo House Car program to all guests. Assist guests with luggage.  Issue and collect automobile claim tickets.  Park and retrieve all vehicles in a safe and timely manner.  Perform daily audits of parked vehicles.  Maintain the security of the hotel parking lot.  Complete daily inventory of car keys in the Valet closet.  Maintain the hotel’s front drive – including, but not limited to, sweeping up debris, ensuring cleanliness and organization of the outside cushions, and ensuring that bell carts remain organized and polished.  Assist Bellman/Doorman with any duties as needed.  Lead the Dewberry House Car program – driving guests to desired locations, retrieving vehicles for guests participating in the Self-Drive program, ensuring the vehicles have a full tank of gas, and maintaining cleanliness of the cars.  Complete forms for the Front Desk team to ensure all guests are charged appropriately for transportation.  Drive all vehicles safely and in accordance with South Carolina laws.  Utilize the hotel’s work order system, “ALICE,” to receive tasks and log work. Assist the Concierge team with the Dewberry Bicycles,  keeping them in good working condition and communicating any necessary repairs to management.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to understand and follow direction, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use technology to receive tasks and mark work as complete.
  • Ability to read the English language sufficiently to ascertain information from luggage tags and claim checks.
  • Exceptional guest recovery skills.
  • Genuine enjoyment of interacting with people in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to consistently present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Availability to work on weekends, nights, and/or holidays as business demands require.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions – including wet and/or humidity, cold, and heat.
  • Ability to bend over to enter and exit vehicles of various heights and sizes.
  • Ability to park and retrieve vehicles from parking area.
  • Ability to meet and perform the physical requirements to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
