About The Position

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate a vac truck to support utility crews in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities. Must be capable of performing manual labor and operating a VAC trailer. Potholing and Utility Locating required. Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition. Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked. Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate work schedules in a direct and friendly manner. Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures. Perform basic maintenance on the truck when necessary. EXTENSIVE TRAVEL IS REQUIRED Accurately navigate a vac truck using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off. Properly wear and safely use PPE. Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid A CDL with tank endorsement.
  • Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self certification.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck maintenance.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Willingness to work nights.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience operating vac trucks preferred.
  • Knowledge on underground utilities and construction practices preferred.
