About The Position

Cooper Thomas, LLC is seeking experienced Outpatient Medical Coders to work full-time in a remote capacity. The role involves coding for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience. The position offers a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to earn productivity and quality incentives. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of accuracy in coding and possess the necessary certifications.

Requirements

• Two years of VA or relevant coding experience, either as a VA employee or with another Government contractor.
• Ability to code an average of 10 outpatient encounters per hour with 95% accuracy.
• Active coding credentials such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or COC.
• Knowledge in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and reimbursement methodologies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Citrix and familiarity with the VA coding environment.
• Active Background Investigation, COI, PIV Card, eToken, and an active Moonlighter and/or Contractor Citrix Network Account.

Responsibilities

• Code outpatient encounters using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes with a minimum accuracy of 95%.
• Maintain active coding credentials and produce copies as required.
• Follow site-specific coding guidelines and complete work within the required turnaround time of 5 days.
• Utilize E/M leveling for outpatient and emergency department visits according to established guidelines.
• Use coding tools such as 3M Encoder and E/M calculators proficiently.
