About The Position

SoundCloud empowers artists and fans to connect and share through music. Founded in 2007, SoundCloud is an artist-first platform empowering artists to build and grow their careers by providing them with the most progressive tools, services, and resources. With over 400+ million tracks from 40 million artists, the future of music is SoundCloud. The SoundCloud summer internship program is a 10-week paid internship starting in June and ending in August. Our DEI-focused program is designed to create sustainable pipelines to invest in SoundCloud's future, discover new, diverse talent at all levels, and develop future leaders who will contribute to all business areas. Interns will be fully immersed in the team, receiving opportunities to enhance their skills, and contribute to our mission. Furthermore, interns will receive various professional and personal development opportunities, like mentorship programming, fireside chats with senior leadership, innovative stretch assignments, and the chance to participate in networking events with other SoundCloud employees across the organization.

Requirements

• Understanding of user-centered design/research principles and methodologies
• Experience conducting qualitative research, especially interviews
• Familiarity with design tools, especially Figma (optional for research-oriented candidates)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Passion for music, participation in music scenes, and understanding of current music technology trends
• A portfolio showcasing UX design and/or research projects (including case studies if possible)

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, conducting, and analyzing user research studies, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing
• Help create competitive analyses, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and other Research and Design artifacts
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product managers, engineers, marketers) to ensure designs align with user and business goals
• Stay updated on the latest music technology trends and contribute insights to the team
• Work with SoundCloud artists and users to pilot and test new product features
