About The Position

We’re hiring a student UX Research Assistant to create and run a research program that facilitates weekly interviews with students and staff. BYU-Pathway Worldwide serves students in more than 180 countries, with wide differences in technology access and experience. This role exists to ensure we consistently hear from real users—what they need, what gets in their way, and what helps them succeed—so product decisions are grounded in real insight. Pay: $14/hour, up to 20 hours/week (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.) Location: Hybrid (mostly remote). Occasional meetings at the Triad Center (Salt Lake City). Must reside in Utah or Idaho.

Requirements

  • Current student at BYU, BYU-Idaho, BYU-Pathway, or Ensign College
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Organized, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Interest in UX, product, design, or information systems
  • Comfortable with Zoom/Teams and basic docs/spreadsheets

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with interviews or usability testing
  • Coursework in UX, HCI, information systems, communications, or related fields

Responsibilities

  • Apply core principles from Continuous Discovery Habits to create a sustainable, repeatable research program
  • Recruit and interview students and staff (remote and occasional in-person)
  • Observe product usage and identify usability issues
  • Synthesize findings into clear insights and improvement ideas
  • Document the research approach and create handoff materials
