About The Position

Join the 2025 AIA Firm Award Winner shaping a more sustainable future. LPA is a collective of architects, designers, engineers, and researchers committed to tackling the biggest issues of our time. Our "No Excuses" integrated design approach was recognized by the AIA as “a trailblazer in sustainable, high-performance architecture." At LPA you’ll be part of a team that is changing the way the industry thinks about design and carbon emissions, built around the belief that we only achieve our goals when everybody has a seat at the table, and all input is valued. LPA is seeking a talented mid-level UX/Product Designer to join our Product & User Experience Design practice within the Digital Product organization — contributing to a growing firmwide capability focused on elegant user experience, strategically aligned product design, and digital innovation. You will collaborate with designers, developers, product specialists, business analysts, data specialists, and researchers to help bring intuitive, well-crafted digital experiences to life. In this role, you will work on a broad range of projects and have impact at each stage of design. You’ll design within a complex technical environment, creating digital products that are grounded in real user needs, aligned to business objectives, and thoughtfully integrated into a broader ecosystem of platforms, data, and workflows. This is a rare opportunity to grow as a UX/Product Designer, while contributing to the evolution of LPA’s first Product & User Experience Design practice.

  • A strong foundation in UX principles, information architecture, interaction design, and usability
  • Familiarity with UX Research methods and translating insights into design decisions
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma. We are a Figma house, so while we will accept proficiency in other programs, you must be willing to learn and work in Figma.
  • Ability to thoughtfully and strategically collaborate across a diverse range of disciplines
  • Curiosity and eagerness to grow within a complex, systems-oriented environment, and balance multiple project contexts

Nice To Haves

  • An interest in architecture, design, sustainability, or the built environment
  • Experience conducting UX Research and synthesizing findings into informed design decisions
  • Experience working with and contributing to Design Systems
  • A keen eye for visual design, interaction detail, and polished UI that balance usability, brand expression, and technical feasibility
  • Working knowledge of accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design practices

Responsibilities

  • Design user-centered experiences for internal platforms (enterprise tools, dashboards, and digital products) and external platforms (company website, content experiences, and client-facing tools), from concept to delivery
  • Translate product vision, roadmap priorities, experience strategy, and end user insights into clear, usable, and well-crafted design solutions
  • Create UX artifacts including information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to visualize user interfaces and interactions
  • Support and conduct UX Research activities such as stakeholder interviews, usability testing, journey mapping, and audits of existing products and platforms
  • Contribute to and apply Design Systems, UI patterns, and accessibility standards across products and experiences

Benefits

  • Mentorship from Managing Directors, Design Directors, and senior team members across disciplines.
  • Career development support, including licensure incentives, professional development grants, and in-house training.

  • Access to our Professional Development Grants program, created to encourage professional development and further LPA's collective knowledge as a firm. Over the life of the grant program, we have invested $1,196,890 and impacted 848 LPA employees.
  • At LPA, we offer competitive salaries and a robust benefits package—including health and dental insurance, retirement and financial planning, wellness initiatives, and flexible work/life programs.
  • This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
