About the position

The UX Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of designers and researchers to create exceptional user experiences across various platforms. This role focuses on fostering a collaborative environment, ensuring high-quality design and research outputs, and connecting team members to build a healthy and effective UX team. The UX Manager works closely with the Product Manager to prioritize user-centered improvements and oversees the delivery of consistent and coherent experiences for users.

Responsibilities

  • Builds a team of designers and researchers who are respected and trusted, with balanced work expectations and opportunities for growth.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment that encourages diverse perspectives and teamwork.
  • Oversees the gathering of requirements from users and stakeholders, collaborating with the Product Manager to determine project scope and timing.
  • Leads the UX team in creating new features based on product strategy, user research, and usability testing results.
  • Develops an environment for designers and researchers to succeed in cross-functional teams, building strong relationships with product management, marketing, and technology.
  • Works with other managers and leaders to enhance cross-functional processes for project teams.
  • Ensures the UX team delivers high-quality experiences for users with consistency and coherency.
  • Follows ethical UX practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Centered Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, Design, Design Research or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in a Design or User Experience field with a portfolio to demonstrate experience.
  • Proven experience leading a UX team of Designers and Researchers in a primarily remote environment.
  • Successful contributions to multiple shipped products, addressing various user needs across different platforms.
  • History of working with multiple designers to deliver quality work within appropriate timelines.
  • Distinguished in one or more core UX skills and proficient in two or more skills: UX Research, UX Writing, Service Design, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Information Design, Interface Design, Visual Design.
  • Proficient in Human Skills: Professionalism, Communication, Collaboration, Adaptability, and Confidence.
  • Proficient in Leadership Skills: Empathy, Planning, Strategic Thinking, Facilitation, Mentoring, Versatility.
  • Fluent with industry tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, and similar software.
  • Experience working within agile and lean methodologies and tools such as GitHub, Trello, or Jira.
