We’re looking for a UX Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to help build rich, interactive map-based web applications. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across both UX design and frontend engineering, bringing complex datasets to life with elegant, high-performance interfaces. You’ll be responsible for implementing core features in React, working with WebGL and geospatial libraries to deliver dynamic visualization experiences. You’ll collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to translate user needs into intuitive, scalable UI components and workflows.

  • Build performant, responsive, and accessible user interfaces for map-based applications.
  • Develop core functionality using React and visualization libraries such as Mapbox, Leaflet, or Deck.gl.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure user needs are reflected in implemented UIs.
  • Integrate data from backend services using REST or GraphQL.
  • Optimize rendering and frontend performance, particularly for large datasets.
  • Help maintain and expand our component library and design system.
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with an eye toward scalability and reusability.
  • Participate in UX reviews, usability testing, and cross-functional design sessions.
  • 3–6 years of professional experience in frontend development and UX-focused engineering roles.
  • Proficient in React and JavaScript (or TypeScript), including component design, state management, and hooks.
  • Experience building interactive map-based UIs with Mapbox, Leaflet, or similar libraries.
  • Familiarity with WebGL or libraries like Deck.gl, Three.js, or D3.
  • Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and modern frontend workflows.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and asynchronous data flows.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when translating designs into functional interfaces.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to project requirements.
  • Experience working with geospatial data and 2D/3D visualizations.
  • Exposure to TypeScript, WebAssembly, or frontend performance profiling tools.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, etc.).
  • Understanding of design systems and reusable component architecture.
  • Interest in UI/UX research, interaction design, or data visualization best practices.
