About The Position

The UX Designer for Internal Design Systems at Amazon is responsible for leading design initiatives that enhance the People Engagement Experience (PEX) for Amazonians globally. This role focuses on creating scalable design components, patterns, and templates that improve user experience across various platforms. The designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement high-quality design solutions while ensuring alignment with Amazon's mission to be Earth's best employer.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a UX designer or interaction designer.
• 2+ years of experience with mass-market consumer web/mobile products.
• Proficiency in prototyping with HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, or Axure.
• Experience working collaboratively with developers for design implementation.
• Strong visual design skills demonstrated through mockups and style guides.
• An available online portfolio showcasing design work.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Figma and design systems.
• Knowledge of user-centered design principles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

• Assume ownership for components, patterns, and templates for product experiences and features across desktop and mobile.
• Work closely with designers and engineers to design and implement scalable additions to the design system.
• Collaborate with designers to identify opportunities for unifying designs across products.
• Create and maintain documentation describing the standards and best practices of the component library.
• Model behavior that exemplifies Amazon Leadership Principles within the team.
• Implement and maintain processes for scaling, updating, and managing various parts of the design system.
• Provide coaching and feedback to junior Independent Contributors and foster leadership capability.
• Engage with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand customer needs.
