PlayStation is seeking a talented UX Designer to join the award-winning team at Santa Monica Studio, contributing to the development of a new unannounced title. In this contract role, you will collaborate closely with engineers, artists, and designers to prototype, develop, and implement the User Experience (UX) through 2D User Interface (UI) design. Your work will be guided by the Lead UI/UX Designer, as well as the Game and Design Directors, ensuring that the player experience is validated through playtests and team feedback. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design sense, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accessibility as a core principle of the player experience. You will be expected to take direction effectively while also providing constructive feedback, demonstrating a willingness to learn, and a passion for enhancing the player experience. In this role, you will design and prototype elegant, accessible, and intuitive UI/UX structures and flows using techniques such as grey-boxing and wireframing. You will support the creative vision of the Lead UI/UX Designer and the broader team, ensuring that information is conveyed clearly and accessibly to players, in alignment with the game's visual style. Your responsibilities will include creating and integrating assets, testing the functionality of UI components, and validating designs through playtests. You will also analyze various games to understand different approaches to UI and UX, and partner with the production team to track incoming assets and deliveries. This position requires a proactive approach to validating UX design and improving the overall experience through iterative processes.
