About The Position

As a UX Designer 2 within the Store Operations space, you independently design features and experiences while contributing to a broader design strategy. You balance user needs with business requirements and technical constraints. You will partner closely with product management, business stakeholders, and engineering to design and deliver solutions that improve store inventory accuracy at Nordstrom. You will support the modernization of our store inventory processes, working end-to-end from research and discovery through design and implementation. Experience with field research methods, such as contextual inquiry and observational research is essential for uncovering unmet user needs in operational environments. Candidates should bring a proven track record of shipping products across both digital and physical touchpoints, demonstrating the ability to solve problems that extend beyond the user interface. Success in this role requires the ability to navigate ambiguity, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and translate complex operational challenges into clear, user-centered design solutions.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of UX/UI design experience with proven track record of shipping products
  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent
  • Portfolio demonstrating problem-solving approach and design process
  • Experience with incorporating user research to make data-driven design decisions
  • Proficiency in design tools and prototyping techniques
  • Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working in agile development environments

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design process for features from concept through implementation
  • Conduct user research activities and translate insights into design decisions
  • Create comprehensive design deliverables including user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and scope
  • Contribute to design system evolution and establish new patterns when needed
  • Articulate design decisions to cross-functional stakeholders, connecting user-centered rationale to business outcomes.
  • Uphold design quality within the squad by reviewing peer and AI-assisted work against craft standards and providing actionable feedback.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide design feedback
