MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Systems Engineer Senior, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems (IUSS). You will play a crucial role in helping sustain IUSS systems. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Sustainment Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the long-term operational readiness and lifecycle support of our complex electronic systems. This role involves close collaboration with internal engineering teams, external vendors, and on-site personnel to coordinate maintenance, troubleshoot system issues, and support system testing and upgrades.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
Experience: 5+ years of related experience
Technical skills: Proven experience in a systems engineering, field service, or sustainment engineering role. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electronic and software-based systems
Security clearance level: Secret
US citizenship required
Role requirements: Onsite and some travel

Responsibilities

Engineering Coordination & Planning: Actively participate in key engineering meetings, including Working-Level Integrated Product Teams (WIPTs) and Failure Review Boards (FRBs).
Develop, update, and maintain system Sustainment Plans, incorporating inputs and action items from all stakeholders.
Serve as a primary liaison between system vendors, on-site teams, and internal engineers to coordinate troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades.
Review technical engineering plans, vendor documentation, and training materials, providing critical feedback to ensure accuracy and relevance.
System Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Lead and support the diagnosis and resolution of system trouble tickets from initial report to final resolution.
Facilitate troubleshooting for complex issues related to power systems, software faults, hardware failures, and network connectivity.
Coordinate on-site and remote technical assistance from vendors and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Testing & Maintenance Strategy: Provide direct engineering support during Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities, including planning and on-site coordination.
Develop and refine maintenance strategies by creating maintenance responsibility matrices and system troubleshooting guides.
Review and update maintenance procedures (e.g., Maintenance Requirement Cards - MRCs) to ensure they are current and effective.
