The Studio Art Program within the Department of Art seeks a qualified student to fill a temporary position within the Studio art building as a Woodshop Safety Assistant. The woodshop assistant is required to have a basic understanding of hand and power tools, in addition to one year of woodshop experience. The successful candidate must be able to perform basic woodshop tasks, and attention to details, demonstrate an ability to work independently and show initiative and problem-solving skills. Duties may include oversight in the wood and metal shops and training students on how to use the shop equipment safely. In addition, the candidate must perform work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. Computer experience using Word and Excel a plus. On the job training will be provided.
