About The Position

UVA Primary Care Waynesboro is seeking a family medicine nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant for their APP opportunity in Waynesboro, VA. The position involves providing Advanced Practice Provider services, including assessment and management of patients across various clinical settings, such as ambulatory clinics, hospitals, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, and community settings. The role requires working in conjunction with the medical director, administrative management, nursing, and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management throughout the healthcare system.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider in Virginia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures.
  • Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments.
  • Formulates diagnoses, identifies problems and health risk profiles, and communicates with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests.
  • Orders medications, treatments and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations.
  • Requests consultation and initiates referrals to other healthcare providers.
  • Evaluates and analyzes patient responses to disease processes and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provides information, education and support to patients/families regarding disease processes and treatment plans.
  • Participates in on-call responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Manages patients in accordance with established UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures.
  • Reports births, deaths, outbreaks of communicable diseases and other critical information.
  • Meets quality standards as determined by the Medical Director and/or UVA Health System.
  • May serve on select committees as needed.
  • Participates in the clinical experience of students and interns as appropriate.
  • Participates in group, peer and other review activities as requested.
  • Prepares and attends to all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary for professional services.
  • Promotes the professional practice of the advanced practice group.
  • Follows policies and procedures of UPG, UVA Medical Center, CMS and other contracted payers.
  • Accurately assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Updates practice through continuing education by attending conferences and professional events.
  • Seeks professional development and growth opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
