UVA Medical Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for the Pediatric Clinics located on the 4th Floor of the Ambulatory setting in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and ensure patient health and wellness under the supervision of the patient's physician or LIP/RN designee. Responsibilities include patient care, vital signs, assisting licensed health care professionals, performing laboratory tests, and clinical intake. The role requires effective communication with team members, patients, and referring providers, as well as data collection regarding the physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of patients. The Medical Assistant will also perform clinical support services, maintain supplies and equipment, document clinical services, and provide administrative support as needed.

  • Provide clinical support and assist with administrative tasks in an ambulatory setting.
  • Perform patient care duties including taking vital signs and assisting licensed health care professionals.
  • Conduct various laboratory tests and quality control indicators.
  • Complete standardized rooming and perform clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
  • Prepare laboratory specimens and perform testing such as point of care testing, ECG/EKG, and venipuncture.
  • Organize and prioritize daily work assignments to support patient needs and operational efficiency.
  • Implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs.
  • Reinforce patient/family teaching plans based on identified health education needs.
  • Maintain a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  • Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered.
  • Provide administrative support including drafting letters, scheduling, and assisting with medication refills.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in the delivery of patient care.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.37 to $28.47.
