About The Position

InGenesis is currently seeking a Security Administrator - Cyber Defense to work with our client. In this role, you will protect and defend information assets. This role manages firewalls, network segmentation, vulnerability assessments, and leads incident response and recovery efforts. You'll work closely with the Information Security Office and operate a local Security Operations Center (SOC) to monitor, detect, and respond to threats.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years in IT operations with strong security focus.
• Firewall and network security administration
• Vulnerability management and incident response
• Familiarity with NIST CSF and compliance frameworks
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Security certifications (Security+, SSCP, CISSP)
• Experience with hybrid environments and enterprise security tools

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
• Monitor alerts from SIEM, EDR, and firewall platforms; investigate suspicious activity.
• Conduct vulnerability scans, prioritize risks, and coordinate remediation.
• Lead incident response for security events (e.g., ransomware, breaches).
• Implement security technologies (MFA, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management tools).
• Support compliance with NIST CSF and UT System security standards.
• Collaborate with IT teams and assist with security awareness initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
