About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, education, health sciences, public health, education, law, or related field and one year experience in program planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, marketing a program or service and supervising/managing staff.
  • Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Requires an applicant to possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical examination and a drug test.
  • Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' Pre-service Training Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced experience with Excel, Smartsheet and other databases.
  • Corrections experience desired.
  • Experience with American Correctional Association standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the manager for the agency's Utilization Review and Medicaid reimbursement programs and directly supervise a team.
  • Provide final clinical oversight for the Utilization Review process.
  • Lead healthcare related projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop efficient workflows for health services projects.
  • Medicaid revenue cycle and discal oversight in alignment with LB921 and state mandates.
  • Translate raw Utilization review data into strategic initiatives.
  • Continuous quality improvement and data analytics.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between Utilization Review operations and external partners.
  • Policy development and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise CQI team.
