Starting Pay: $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends. Position Summary: This position is responsible for inspection of the chicks in the hatcher to ascertain quality and fitness for processing. Chicks will be monitored in the hatcher baskets to help determine pull times and/or hatcher adjustments. The initial check starts around 9:00AM and constitutes removing hatch buggies, momentarily, out of the hatcher, counting hatched chicks from a designated hatch basket, taking rectal temperatures, and determining through calculations any hatcher adjustments necessary. Additional checks are required every two hours, utilizing other monitoring methods. Other responsibilities include performing required quality assurance (QA) checks in other areas of the hatchery.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicants have been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to not own and avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 1000-1500 lbs. (on wheels).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment.
  • Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
  • Must be able to pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit test.
