About The Position

The Utility Worker supports the daily operations of the Water/Sewer Utilities Department by performing a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in the warehouse and field. Primary duties include maintaining a clean and organized warehouse, stocking inventory, delivering and picking up parts, and assisting with general maintenance and operational tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Previous experience in warehouse, utilities, or maintenance operations preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required.
  • Basic knowledge of water/sewer utility materials and equipment preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Competency in safe work practices and equipment operation.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in warehouse, utilities, or maintenance operations preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of water/sewer utility materials and equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse, storage areas, and workspaces.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock parts, tools, and supplies used in water and sewer system maintenance.
  • Track and organize inventory using proper labeling and documentation.
  • Deliver and pick up parts, materials, and equipment from vendors or job sites as needed.
  • Assist with unloading deliveries and verifying packing slips or invoices.
  • Support field crews by preparing and staging materials for upcoming jobs.
  • Dispose of waste materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Operate light equipment, vehicles, and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of warehouse equipment and vehicles.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
