About The Position

EPCOR is hiring a full-time, permanent Utility Worker (in Training, I, II, or III) to join our San Tan District team, supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems. This hands-on role includes working on fire hydrants, water mains, meters, and valves, as well as performing water quality testing and preventative maintenance. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of water and wastewater systems, be comfortable using field equipment and computers, and able to work independently. The position requires flexibility for emergency call-outs and the ability to work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat. Requirements

Candidate must have thorough understanding of water distribution, and wastewater collection systems.
Must have knowledge of use of tools and equipment used in the water and wastewater field
Computer literacy and proficiency required for completing service orders in customer information system.
Ability to complete reports legibly and accurately on paper and with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, service orders, and maintenance manuals.
Ability to code time card with up to 50 separate account codes.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and regulations.
Ability to work independently when given written and oral instructions.
Ability to perform standardized water quality tests; ability to operate motor vehicles such as dump trucks, backhoes, valve exerciser, mini-vac unit, and similar equipment.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external customers.
This position is subject to call back, overtime and week-end/holiday emergency call-outs and call duty.
Position has the potential for exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, water and sewage.
Must be able to tolerate extreme heat.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Valid Arizona driver's license with good driving record
Utility Worker in Training must have: HS Diploma or GED. Valid AZ Driver's license, Class D.
Utility Worker I must have:Grade 1 certifications in appropriate area of Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection. HS Diploma or GED. Valid AZ Driver's license, . . Class B CDL at time of hire and/or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire.
Utility Worker II - Two years of on the job or equivalent experience. Grade 2 certifications in appropriate area of Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection. HS Diploma or GED. Valid AZ Driver's license, . Class B CDL at time of hire and/or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire.
Utility Worker III must have: Minimum of three (3) year of qualifying work experience in water distribution field. ADEQ Grade 3 Water Distribution certification required. . Class B CDL at time of hire and/or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain fire hydrants, main line valves, water service lines, water mains, water meters and fittings, installation of new water services, water system flushing, water quality sampling, flow testing, traffic control, and preventative maintenance activities e.g. valve exercising and fire hydrant inspections.
Provide assistance to Field Customer Service Representative, meter reading, Line Locator and collections systems when needed to backfill due to absences.
Performs other work as required.
