Requirements

  • Understanding of water/wastewater systems, tools, and field equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, service orders, and manuals
  • Familiarity with drinking water regulations and testing practices
  • Strong record‑keeping and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Comfort working in confined spaces and varying weather conditions
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to operate dump trucks, backhoes, valve exercisers, and mini‑vac units
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Candidates must live within 45 minutes of Lake Havasu City or Parker, AZ to fully support this role.
  • All positions require a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Utility Worker In Training: Must obtain Grade 1 Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection (based on assignment) within 6 months and CDL within 1 year.
  • Utility Worker I: Grade 1 Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection (based on assignment), CDL required .
  • Utility Worker II: One year of on the job or equivalent experience. Grade 2 Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection (based on assignment ), CDL required.
  • Utility Worker III: Two years of on the job or equivalent experience. Grade 2 Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection (based on assignment), CDL required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair water mains, service lines, meters, valves, fittings, and fire hydrants
  • Perform system flushing, water quality sampling, and flow testing
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including valve exercising and hydrant inspections
  • Investigate and resolve customer concerns such as leaks, odors, high readings, and pressure issues
  • Perform monthly meter reading.
  • Identify customer concerns and take appropriate actions to resolve them
  • Assist customers in locating leaks and ensuring meter connections are functioning correctly
  • Maintain safe work zones using standard traffic control procedures
  • Complete service orders and documentation accurately
  • Support daily operations and assist with other tasks as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required to support daily operations
