DOTI's Transportation Division develops, reviews, evaluates, implements and supports the design of transportation system improvements As a Utility Worker II you will: Work on a Heavy Construction Signals team or a Signs and Markings team Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects Operation of light weight motorized equipment and hand and power tools Assist with general labor, safety, and related work tasks on a crew with Equipment Operators Cross Train with Signal Techs and Equipment Operators Operate equipment such as box truck, auger truck, dump trucks, Mini Excavators and other heavy equipment after CDL is obtained Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirements Participate in snow removal duties.

Requirements

  • None Education Requirement
  • One (1) year of experience performing unskilled labor work.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements within six (6) months of employment and must be kept current as a condition of employment.
  • By position, requires a CDL Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Driving experience
  • Conduit, piping or plumbing experience
  • Have a valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather, road environments, dust, fumes, etc.
  • Desire to follow a career path and promote to other positions within the department, such as Equipment Operator I, Equipment Operator II, etc. (We provide on the job training!)

Responsibilities
