Under direct supervision, performs a variety of tasks including the installation, maintenance, and repair of treatment plant facilities, roadways, water and sewer lines, pumping stations, and associated equipment. This position is classified as Extra Help - Temporary Work Assignment, meaning it is temporary and may end at any time. Extra Help Employees are typically hired at an hourly rate of pay at the first step of the salary range and are paid only for hours worked. They are entitled to legally mandated benefits, which do not include paid vacation or holidays. Extra Help Employment is limited to no more than 25 hours per week and no more than 900 hours per fiscal year. Seasonal employees will work 40 hours/week from April to October each year. Public Employees' Retirement Law (PERL) may restrict eligibility for CalPERS retirees to only temporary assignments for special projects or backlog of work.
