Purpose & Scope: The Regional Water Authority is seeking a Utility Technician I (UTI) to join the Field Operations Department. The UTI will operate trucks to move personnel, portable equipment, and material to and from job sites as required. Perform all duties pertaining to the maintenance, repair, and installation of buried infrastructure (Water Mains and Services). We expect dedication and high-quality work from our employees. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Possess a valid Connecticut CDL B License
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Familiar with OSHA, state and local, for hauling, dumping and weight limits associated with driving construction vehicles and equipment
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to pass a Physical Demand Screening
  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment, as necessary
  • Ability to work in inclement weather for periods of time when required

Responsibilities

  • All duties of Apprentice
  • Install and repair water mains
  • Install and repair water service connections
  • Install large and small taps
  • Install and repair fire hydrants
  • Install and repair branches and blow offs
  • Follow posted safety standards and wear personal protective equipment when necessary
  • Operate pipe saws, pumps, tampers and other motorized small tools
  • When on-call, candidate will be required to respond to after-hours calls
  • Ability to place pneumatic shoring according to manufacturers tabulated data
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Knowledge and reporting of RWA safety rules
