About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide semi-skilled and skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on the water and wastewater systems. This is accomplished by servicing equipment pertaining to water distribution/wastewater collection systems, wastewater facilities, and well-field treatment and delivery systems. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned. Shift work, weekends, holidays, standby duty, and callback duty may be required.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalency
  • 1 year of previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
  • A main requirement of the job is physical labor.
  • Valid Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker and HazMAT endorsement upon hire.
  • One (1) Grade I Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Certification (ADEQ) in appropriate field upon hire.
  • Must obtain Grade II ADEQ Certification in appropriate field within one year of hire.
  • Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias.
  • Ability to deal with a system of real numbers; and practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled work and maintenance on Water Production equipment and assist in occasional training to other less skilled Utility Systems Operators.
  • Inform Lead of project performance and provides general input on employee’s performance.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, inspections, and repair of equipment, machinery and systems related to Water Production.
  • Respond and troubleshoot customer concerns about water pressure as well as water quality concerns including taste, odor and color complaints.
  • Work with other departments regarding water quality and environmental compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve technical problems and customer complaints and informs management of operational issues, needs or concerns.
  • Assist in training and providing technical assistance to staff.
  • Oversee proper preventative maintenance procedures; maintains records pertaining to maintenance schedules, including activities, labor and cost using Computerized Maintenance Management System.
